The Art of Running

We all have our own quirks and hobbies that consume some part of our lives, and mine happens to be running. And, as a History of Art major, I have an interest in the world of art. Running for me is more than a casual past time; it is apart of my identity, a source of inspiration, and my chosen mode of transportation for going out and exploring the world. As someone interested in the Art Museum world and running, I thought I’d share a Museum that combines the two.

Berlin’s Sports Museum/AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races) Marathon Museum of Running showcases the history of the sport and includes artifacts from marathons from New York to Venice. AIMS’s association with the Berlin Sports Museum has helped spread the world of running with the public and has certainly captured my attention!

Here is a description about it from the AIMS Museum website: "Tegla Lorupe’s shoes are on display from her 2:20:43 record run on 26 September 1999, and the race number, shoes, and water bottle used by Naoko Takahashi when she broke through the 2:20 barrier on 30 September 2001 (when she recorded 2:19:47) are also among the Museum's exhibits."
